FALL TOS Meeting to be held in Chattanooga on October 13-15th…
The TOS Fall Meeting will be held in Chattanooga on October 13-15th, 2023. Host hotel is the Fairfield Inn and Suites 124/Lookout Mountain. Friday reception and all field trips will leave from there. OCTOBER 28th FIELD TRIP – Green Door Gourmet, Nashville
We will tour this 200+ acre working organic farm which is nestled along the Cumberland River right across from Bells Bend Park. Featuring a mix of cedar forest, upland hardwoods, and large agricultural fields, it forms a habitat mosaic that should attract a wide variety of birds. We plan to hike around the entire property
Field Trip – November 18th: Woods Reservoir Boat Tour (near Tullahoma)
NTOS member Jeffrey Cowell has graciously offered to organize a boat tour of Woods Reservoir aboard his pontoon boat during mid-November, which is right when waterfowl migration kicks into high gear. We will spend several hours on the water searching for newly arriving migrants. The trip is open to NTOS members, and will be limited
NTOS Christmas ‘Land’ Count – Saturday, December 16th, 2023
Join NTOS for our TWO annual Christmas Bird Count. The first is the 'land' count which will take place on Saturday, December 16th. Count leaders will be getting in touch with those who have counted before with details for their areas. The monthly meeting, scheduled to be held on Thursday, January 18th has been CANCELLED. With current snow, a pending minor thaw and then more snow predicted for Thursday we decided it was the safest decision. See everyone next month! Be safe, keep warm and enjoy your birds!!
Big Sandy/Pace Point Trip – January 20, 2024 – HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR SAFETY REASONS.
**Due to ROAD CONDITIONS AND weather this field trip to Pace Point has been CANCELLED. Law Enforcement in the area reports that NO roads have been plowed past the Big Sandy Market and roads into the Refuge there are icy and snowpacked.
